Where it all began....
It all began in October 2003, Captain Dave saw two old masts protruding from Collingwood dock...
This was Glaciere. An 1899 Baltic Trader, sunken and wrecked. "The perfect Metaphor". If Dave could re-build this, we could give hope to others.
Glaciere is 117 years old and used to carry stone from England to Denmark and actually helped build some of Liverpool's Dock Walls!!!
6 months of hard work gave Glaciere a new lease of life. Volunteers flocked in, many homeless and jobless living in the YMCA got experience of ship building and went on to find jobs working in exchange for both experience and first aid courses.
April 2004 saw the opening of a totally unique way of learning to dive and sail with all proceeds going into making the Glaciere the ship she is today.
Glaciere is based in the Albert Dock floating for 13 years now and still making trips across the Irish Sea
